Day 2 of a 4 day weekend

Image
Today we did our normal Sunday thing without doing our normal Sunday thing: we vegged but didn't get ready for the "work week" (other than a quick run out for a couple items we needed for tomorrow). There was a lot of playing with pups, building materials, and a stint outside but overall the screens were on at full force today. The adults youtubed to their heart's content while the child traded from kindle apps/videos to phone apps/videos and back again throughout the day. I found more learning language activities, as I am gearing up in my thoughts about convincing myself that doing one post a week in german (and possibly ASL) won't kill me dead. The Babadum site that is basically picture flashcards tells me I am sort of even in guestimating between right and wrong translations and that I have no idea how to spell in german...especially if the word is not spoken numerous times over! It is a pretty standard day after a day of people-ing in this house. How has your

A 4 day weekend start

Today we went on a day trip a good 2 hours away. We visited all our favorite stores in Carey and then couldn't resist the BJ's pizza! The first stop was some cooking stores my other half wanted to see. We didn't realize it led us into a big (2 story) mall which was a nice surprise. We got to peruse more shops and even ended up with some candy from Lolli & Pops. Then came the fun stores for me! REI, Joanne's, and World market. Joann's gave me some super fun ideas (most of the home decore type) which made me wish it was closer. Then it was pizza and boy were we ready! A day driving, walking, and waiting in sunny lines and the attitudes it created wiped us out. But woohoo for the first day of a 4 day weekend!

My nailing adventures

So...that drawer that died? Well, my other half said, it could be revived by nailing it (as the glue didn't and wouldn't hold any longer) and then ran off to a work shindig...and I thought, 12 nails- 3 on each side- how hard can it be? I will tell you how hard it can be for a Katja, all freakin' afternoon hard! I will say that the main reason it took me all afternoon was that I-as always- was crooked in all my perception dealings (swinging the hammer), but also I am pretty sure the stuff I used, while the right type...was not the right type. The nails were for hanging pictures, the hammer heavy, and the corkboard-like plywood (at least I think that's what the drawer was made out of) had lived a full life already once by someone else (remember that I found the dresser on the side of the road, ready for the dump) and I was trying to give Luna just a few more years out of it. But -YAY!!!- I finally put it all together and put it in so now she has all the slots full..also
