book this week: Declutter Your Mind

Today was basic decompressing from the intense week of stimulation...plus it was rainy. While Luna enjoyed the rain and cozy cuddles I thought I'd revisit a subject ( different book by the same people though) that I read about in the first week's (month's?) blog posting: mindfulness. 

The intro discusses why we have negative thoughts...or well, thoughts in general (it's your brain's way of processing the synapses it computes). There are four parts and the first part. Is decluttering your thoughts. Causes of cluttered thoughts can be daily stress, the paradox of choice, too much stuff, and the negative bias (the brain is hard-wired to remember negative more than positive as it produces more mutual stimuli). Habits that help are: deep breathing focus, meditation, reframe the negative thoughts, and construct them in a new positive way. 
Part 2 was decluttering your life obligations, such as: defining/identifying your core values, clarifying your life priorities, focus on mindful goal setting (S.M.A.R.T. goals), and connecting them to your passions. 
Part 3 is decluttering your relationships is simply to ditch toxic relationships and focus on how you can be better at positive ones. Ways to do this are: being more present (empathetic listening, mindful speaking and no comparisons to others), getting g unstuck from the past, mindfully practicing with your significant other, letting go of certain people (toxic relationships) and certain perceptions of that person (seeing them as they are now vs as they were or will be). 
Part 4 is decluttering your surroundings. Ways to do this simplify your home, digital ways, your activities, actions, and distractions.
The conclusion of this book just summed up the four parts and reiterates that like decluttering your house, it takes time and dedication, and awareness of said task. 

Okay book done and now it's back to entertaining the Luna Buna (bath time!).
