New Sunday routines

So...we are patterning new Sunday routines, it looks like. Time out for window shopping/browsing and or fishing. And the reason for the outings: hair cutting (there was a close call in which my daughter wanted to chop off her longish hair and look like daddy's buzzed fade, everyone involved would have been in dramatics!). Then it's home for getting ready for the next week (laundry! Oh the horror!!!)

I did a zoom call with family today too. High-speed German...is still difficult to navigate but I caught some words and the gist of snatches of conversations so I am pretty proud of myself. Yay me!

Friday rains

Today seemed to go by quick. We had screen time, all building blocks out, all pup toys out...and then it rained. First came the hyper active make believe pup play, her blanket and screens dragged in almost every room of the house for sleepy or sick or hiding pups. As the day progressed she popped in and out of her room with various block toys and pup figurines when meals were requested or acknowledged. Towards the beginning of the afternoon she settled right outdoor with her stuffed animal pups, her kindle and a umbrella for some shade from the sun. The umbrella came in handy when it started to poor come mid afternoon and after singing and dancing in the rain under the umbrella, her pups went swimming in the "pool." Mean while I had a pounding headache so I was taking it easy with low lights, book reading and easy crafting and cleaning. Lets talk some science!

Gemstones have been around for a looooong time! They have been a fabric of our history (both literally and figuratively) since man understood how to create things. While synthetics didn't seem to be developed or understood until the 20th century or so, people have been mining and wearing for life and death. Gemstones come in all different colors and have been divided for such purposes as their usefulness and appearance. 1812 Fredrick Mohs created a standard of 10 minerals to be the poster children for understanding the hardness of all minerals. Geology.com clued me into some facts!  Diamonds: Carbon atoms covalent bonded, make sturdy and durable, and versatile gemstone that has been around for many moons and hopefully be around for many more. Crafting: Weaving

So I want to produce one craft a week (I feel like I am biting off more then I can chew, here, actually). I figured this way my stop and go love/hate relationship and half-finished and just started projects that I am famous for in my house, can all be increased! haha, well, hopefully, the projects will be completed (especially since it will give me something to write about). Today's post: weaving! So I got a weaving kit at some point at the beginning of our stay in NC and realized while i enjoyed the act of weaving and  (I really like using them as inner layers for stuff), the lap loom I had, was, well, lap-sized, so it was small with slits for the warp (the vertical material along with the frame) the were evenly spaced but a good 24 of them notched together. I had trouble keeping my warp on the notches, to begin with but it all felt so...claustrophobic-ly small!
